Tobi Lafinhan has a background in civil engineering combined with over 4 years of experience working in leading organisations in West Africa across a variety of industries, including tech.
He took the first of many leaps by moving away from home and joining a tech startup in Nigeria's economic centre, Lagos. This then led him to a four-year stint at MEST Africa, an international non-profit that recruits, trains and invests in aspiring African software entrepreneurs. First with co-leading a new incubator launch, then running operations for the Nigeria office, and eventually spearheading recruitment across the organisation.
At MEST, Tobi led and managed recruitment processes and funnels in 5 key African markets, recruiting founders across 11 companies eventually backed by $1.1 million in seed funding.
He is currently the Co-founder of Venture for Africa, a fellowship program designed to fill talent gaps in Africa’s startup ecosystem by enabling top local and global fellows to access opportunities at leading startups in Africa.
Tobi also runs a personal podcast called The Yellow Pill, where he and his co-host, Wolé, unleash their social artistry in constantly trying to make sense of familiar dilemmas & wicked problems that affect everyone.
You can probably catch him on the streets of Accra riding on his orange roadie at about 50km/hr on a lovely Saturday morning.
